Surfaces
No two bricks are exactly alike – and that is precisely where their appeal lies. A clinker brick’s final character begins to take shape during production: moulding, sanding and firing interact to create surfaces ranging from smooth and even to rough and expressive. Subtle irregularities, pronounced edges and natural variations in colour determine how a façade responds to light and casts shadows. This interplay gives it a modern and understated, traditional and authentic, or distinctly individual appearance.
Every surface reveals its full effect only in combination with format, bond and joint. This applies equally to clinker bricks, facing bricks and brick slips. Choosing a surface is therefore a design decision that will shape a building for generations.
Hand-moulded
In the hand-moulding process, the clay is sanded and thrown into the mould. This creates surfaces with a rough, sandy texture, irregular edges and subtle variations in colour. Every surface has a lively character and no two are exactly alike – ideal for façades intended to convey warmth and individuality.
Extrusion press
The extrusion process is defined by clean lines and precision, while offering a particularly wide range of options for surface design. These extend from smooth and finely textured finishes to grooved and brushed structures and rough, slate-like surfaces. The result is a modern façade that can emphasise restraint and technical precision while still appearing lively and expressive.
Water-struck
In the water-struck process, the moulds are moistened with water before they are filled. This gives the surface a soft, particularly natural texture with rounded edges and subtle variations in colour. Water-struck clinker bricks have a hand-crafted appearance, translating the character of traditional bricks into a modern, harmonious form.
